Our baby Hy-Line Brown chicks are now for sale!
The female chicks were hatched on the 18th of June and received four different vaccinations: Salmonella Typhimurium, E-Coli, Infectious Bronchitis and Mareks Disease.
Our Hy-Line chicks have doubled in bodyweight and running around the barn with lots of energy. They are already starting to grow their flight feathers and will go through a couple of moults on their way to becoming laying hens but they are very cute at the moment in their yellow and brown fluff.
Unable to regulate their own body temperature, the chicks now require around 20 degrees of constant heat for the next few weeks before being able to go into the coop.
To keep them in your home you will need the following:
- Heat pad or lamp that is safe and designed for chick raising ($100 to $150)
- Wood shavings or hemp ($20 to $35)
- A good-sized cardboard box
- Chick starter feed ($12)
- Drinker and feeder ($13)
If you are keen to raise chicks yourself, send us an email (email@example.com), and we can let you know if we can deliver them to your home and how much. At this time, it costs $30 to deliver up to 30km from our farm and $50 for up to 70km.
